Apple has received expanded access to Google's Gemini artificial intelligence systems. This strategic partnership will make it possible to turn Siri into a full-fledged intelligent assistant in a short time. The new technologies will pave the way for compact neural networks that run quickly and privately directly on users' devices.
According to The Information, the agreement between the two companies involves the use of knowledge transfer from large models to lighter algorithms. This will allow Apple engineers to prepare compact systems that imitate Gemini's complex logical chains with significantly less computing power.
The main advantage of this approach will be a high level of personal data protection, since most operations will be performed locally — directly on the device itself. A major Siri update is scheduled for the WWDC conference in June. It is expected that after the new features are introduced, the voice assistant will become truly proactive.
The updated Siri will be able to remember details of previous conversations and the context of interaction with the user. It will also be able to independently suggest useful actions — for example, analyze traffic conditions and flight times and recommend leaving for the airport in advance. At the same time, Apple will continue to develop its own independent work in artificial intelligence.
