In the year "Independent, Permanently Neutral Turkmenistan — the Homeland of the Swift Steed of Cherished Goals," on the initiative of the Hero Arkadag and under the leadership of Arkadagly Hero Serdar, special attention is paid in our independent, neutral Motherland — moving along the path of prosperity — to areas such as introducing the digital economy, achieving sustainable development, strengthening effective international cooperation, exchanging experience and joining efforts.
Currently, extensive work is being carried out in our country to widely introduce modern information and communication technologies and the capabilities of artificial intelligence into the sectors of the economy, as well as to ensure information security. The active introduction of the latest scientific achievements into all sectors creates opportunities to accelerate economic development. Methods for the most active and effective use of AI technologies are being studied on an ongoing basis.
The "Concept for the Development of the Digital Economy of Turkmenistan for 2026–2028" adopted in our country also covers such areas as the broad introduction of e-government, digital education and science systems, digital healthcare, artificial intelligence and cloud technologies, as well as financial technologies.
In this regard, on March 5, a workshop on the topic "National Artificial Intelligence Strategy: Developing Joint Solutions for Sustainable Development" was held at the "Archabil" hotel in the capital, organized by the Ministry of Communications of Turkmenistan together with the United Nations Development Programme.
The workshop was attended by representatives of state institutions, ministries and sectoral administrative bodies of Turkmenistan, public organizations, as well as international experts from the UN Development Programme.
The workshop discussed issues related to the possibilities of introducing artificial intelligence technologies into the sectors of Turkmenistan's economy and creating a legal framework in this area. Tasks related to international experience in the use of AI technologies and the security of national databases were also identified.
During the workshop, meetings were held on the main areas of artificial intelligence with the participation of such experts as Tristan Post, founder and Chief AI Officer of the Munich-based AI Strategy Institute (Germany); Andreas Pawelke, UNDP Türkiye advisor on digital innovation and AI strategy development, a German expert; Ayshan Gurbanaliyeva, chief analyst of the UNDP Country Support Programme on AI in Türkiye; and representatives of the Ministry of Communications of Turkmenistan. The meetings discussed directions of mutual cooperation on the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies.
This workshop, which will continue until March 6, will be of great importance for exchanging experience, establishing broad relations in the future, and discussing and implementing mutually beneficial projects.
