Apple Unveils $2,000 Foldable iPhone Duo
Just two weeks into his role as Apple CEO succeeding Tim Cook, John Ternus revealed the most radical design shift in the iPhone's history: the foldable iPhone Duo. Sales for the book-style device will launch on October 23, 2026, with U.S. prices ranging from $1,999 to $3,199.
When unfolded, the Duo resembles a compact iPad, while folded, it functions as a wide-screen iPhone. Ternus emphasized that Apple avoided competitor design pitfalls, delivering an intuitive experience rather than "two phones slapped together." Along with the Duo, Apple introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, starting at $1,199 and $1,299, respectively.
Market experts view the device as a bold yet risky venture. Forrester analyst Dipanjan Chatterjee noted that the Duo could either remain a niche prestige product like the Vision Pro headset or build a steady annual market similar to the Apple Watch.
